SEO Tools

There are a few client side software apps that try to automate basic optimization taks like http://www.webceo.com, http://www.webposition.com/ and
IBP4.
Don't rely on these tools for submissions (not necessary) and avoid repeated ranking reports within a small space of time. Google does not like automated queries of its database.

There are also a number of hosted tools listed at http://www.seocompany.ca/tool/seo-tools.html

The old adage with these tools is very true, "a tool is only
as good as the person using it". What I mean is that your
best bet would be to have an experienced SEO take a look at your
site. However, in the meantime you can become more familiar with
what's important by trying some of the above tools. I would say
there is no single tool that can tell you all that you need to
know.

I would highly recommend visiting SEO forums if possible (if you
don't already). http://www.highrankings.com, http://www.webmasterworld.com,
http://www.seochat.com and http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/.

Some very good e-books on SEO include: Mike Grehan http://www.search-engine-book.co.uk/ and Aaron Wall http://www.seobook.com.

Search engine marketing blogs are also an excellent resource:
